About Us

History. Dominic founded the Dominican Order in 1215. Dominic established a religious community in Toulouse in 1214, to be governed by the rule of Saint Augustine and statutes to govern the life of the friars, including the Primitive Constitution.
We are the Friars – brothers and priests – of the Order of Preachers, a religious Order of the Catholic Church that is commonly known as the 'Dominicans' after the name of our founder, St Dominic.
